Mr. William Jones A memorable Choir Practice For the class of SC74 Arun was 'Jones' and his father was 'Talu'. This distinction was kept for identification purposes and I don't think anything derogatory was ever implied. One of my lasting memories of Talu Jones was at Senior Choir practice. On this particular day in question Talu was in charge of the choir practice as Mrs M was away. It was a warm day and he was wearing a white short-sleeved shirt. As soon as he raised his arms to conduct the choir, it revealed the tear in his underarm (I will leave the visuals to your imaginations). This provoked giggles from the teenagers (that we were then) and no amount of 'dirty looks' could scare us into keeping a staright face. To make things worse, the madder Talu got, the redder his 'talu' became until we were all a hopeless mess. The practice hour (if you could call it that) ended finally and Talu stomped off muttering dire threats. I'm sure he'd have given us all house marks right there and then. The following week, it was choir practice time again and we all sat sheepishly waiting for Talu (and imagining the horrors he might visit upon us).
