My Fair Lady (Revisited)

'Ow ould Lija Dolille sigh't?' May be 'Aye blooming good show!'

Sitting at the MH hall and witnessing the show of "My Fair Lady" was truly an experience in itself. Undoubtedly it was a reproduction of the show done about 15 years back but that is where the memory lane started! Looking at the new cast the ghosts of the previous cast would come creeping in even when all the lights were glaring in full voltage. If this begs the question, 'Which was better?' then I beg to refrain from giving any positive reply for I am just a lover and see everything as beautiful and not a critic!

The musical also took me back 50 years or so ... there I was a little child in the UKG hardly understanding a word sung or spoken but enjoying seeing the sailors/tars prance around with their tarts -- HMS PINAFORE. The next was IOLANTHI (sp?) and then some Shakespearean plays, most by the S. Troupe itself and some by MHS! Yes it was very interesting to see Achintya Bhattacharya, then may be in Class 5, take up the complete challenge of Puck (A MIDSUMMERNIGHT'S DREAM) and kudos to patience and talents of the staff to hone such mastery in such a young child!

To name a few others are A FIDDLER ON THE ROOF,  BRIGADOON, and ROBE OF MANY COLOURS are a few others I remember.  You must forgive my human limitations and may be even help me with the list.

Any way, whatever be, “Thank you MOUNT HERMON”. Specially “Thank you the wonderful actors, actresses, directors, singers, et al for a wonderful golden jubilee present.”

And what did ‘Lija Dolille sigh’ in this case? “Show it!”

Thanks again, one and all.
